In  Frankfurt's Sindlingen district, the Ludwig Weber School is a  contemporary new building for 200 primary school pupils that is not only  a place of learning but also a place of encounter. In line with the  guiding principle of ‘together instead of alone’, Behnisch Architekten  designed a school building that promotes a lively school community with  open spatial structures, diverse learning landscapes and green outdoor classrooms.

The three-storey building with its light-coloured wooden façade blends harmoniously into its surroundings while  contrasting with the neighbouring residential development. A central atrium, light-flooded marketplaces, open corridors, colourful cloakroom areas and rooms for retreat and socialising create an open,  learning-friendly spatial structure. The classrooms have direct access  to the outside area – either to the schoolyard or to surrounding  balconies, where green classrooms offer additional space for outdoor  lessons. The spacious schoolyard with a garden, learning meadow and  exercise areas, as well as an integrated gym, complement the educational  concept, which focuses on openness, diversity and integration.

A central design element in the interior is the Kugelgarn® textile floor covering from Fabromont, which was used in classrooms, corridors and cloakrooms. Kugelgarn® impresses with its high durability and is ideal for intensive everyday school use. Its sound-absorbing properties promote a quiet learning  atmosphere, while the soft, non-slip surface ensures comfort and safety. The flooring also meets the highest standards in terms of ease of care: it is easy to clean and remains attractive for many years. With its  natural colouring, Kugelgarn® in the Graffiti playa quality  enhances the friendly, warm appearance of the learning spaces – and thus  contributes significantly to making the Ludwig Weber School a place  where children, teachers and parents alike feel at home.
