Tradition and innovation.

Textile floor coverings reinvented.

In 1963, textile engineer Günter Tesch founded his own company for the manufacture of textile floor coverings - Fabromont AG - on a greenfield site in the then rural, bilingual Swiss canton of Fribourg. In this way, he remained connected to his origins and family tradition. Since childhood, he had gained experience in retailing carpets in his father’s shop in Berlin.

He wanted to stay true to the theme of carpets, but leave the old paths. But the transformation to a successful industrialist was long and rocky. Above all, his aspiration to create something new - i.e. neither woven nor tufted carpets - presented an enormous challenge to him. Thanks to his creativity and over 100 patents (not only in the field of carpets), he succeeded in making Fabromont AG one of the most successful manufacturers of textile contract coverings.
